Even before setting a foot on the floor
a new day can turn
from window of leaves breezing in the sun
to a sudden, same old scare.
Still, most days we get up and go—
walk the waters, climb the stairs,
do whatever we seem to do.
The good ones pull us toward
themselves, into a happenstance.
The others? Well, they stack up
in a gray way, more easy to forget,
and pushing from behind.
